Langham is holding a vote to determine if it should form a regional police force with Dalmeny.
The plebiscite question is part of byelection taking place Wednesday in the community northwest of Saskatoon.

If it passes, the town would join in policing with Dalmeny instead of using the RCMP.
Brendan Proctor, the deputy mayor of Langham, said while they have no complaints with the RCMP, it isn’t a community police force.
Proctor said a community police force would be better positioned to deal with smaller crimes like vandalism and theft.
“If we dial 911, (the RCMP) have been here in a reasonable amount of time,” Proctor said.
“The thing about it is, they aren’t a community police force. They aren’t based here.”
Dalmeny currently has three officers and three more would be hired to look after Langham if the plebiscite passes.
The cost of policing would rise in the town, from $55,000 yearly to roughly $300,000 a year.
