Over the last few years people have been melting down my phone and tearing up Twitter and enunciating on email that photo radar does not do anything to slow down traffic.
My hopeful response was maybe not immediately, but after a few expensive speeding tickets, maybe.
I was told that was wrong-headed thinking, and now after all the spirited talk you’ve heard what has happened.
People are not speeding as much. Radar revenue is down $3 million.
Many people, upset with tickets, assured me the “cash cow” would never slow people down, yet here we are with the numbers.
Mayor Don Iveson sees it as people have not stopped speeding entirely, but they are speeding less.
Well, that’s a start towards the much ballyhooed Vision Zero.
What I appreciate is the driver feedback signs. I like the implied approval that I’m doing the speed limit.
