Winnipeg man charged after month long crime spree

A 32-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with a months long crime spree around Winnipeg starting in August.

Stefan Josef Blab has been charged with robbery, theft under $5,000, break enter and theft, six outstanding arrest warrants, and more.

Officers said on August 11 around 1 a.m. a suspect used bolt cutters to steal two bikes from a basement in the 400 block of Westwood Drive.

Then, on September 5 around 8 p.m. a suspect stole several items from a grocery store on Portage Avenue valued at approximately $200.

On September 16 around 6:15 p.m. a suspect attempted to steal several items from a retail store in the 500 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway. He was stopped by a loss prevention officer, but then showed a device that could shock someone and fled the store.

Officers said the suspect then tried to carjack a woman in her 50’s in an SUV. He was stopped by two people and the loss prevention officer from the store and held until police arrived.
