WorkSafe BC and Mission fire crews are investigating after a cedar shake mill went up in flames Saturday evening.

Fire Chief Dale Unrau says his crew was called in just after 5:30 p.m. to Harbour Ave.

“A fully involved cedar shake mill fire, we had to go defensive with our operations with the onset of the fire just due to the involvement.”

He says the building did sustain substantial damage.

“There likely will be a few workers that will be out of work… for a few months possibly, while they get their operation up and running.”

Unrau says nobody was injured and no workers were on site when the fire sparked.
