RCMP in southern Alberta say a man who allegedly pretended to shoot at passing vehicles with a stolen hockey stick was intoxicated at the time.
Officers were called to the Thorburn and Big Springs areas of Airdrie, Alta., at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday for reports of a man destroying property and causing a disturbance.
Airdrie RCMP allege the man had broken “numerous” items inside his own home, thrown rocks at parked vehicles and destroyed his neighbour’s fence.
“The male then stole a hockey stick and held it like a firearm pretending to shoot at passing vehicles,” RCMP said in a Thursday news release.
The man was eventually located in the intersection of East Lake Boulevard and Thorburn Drive where he was arrested without incident.
RCMP allege he was determined to be “under the influence of alcohol and drugs.”
Warren Robert Eyapaise, 37, of Airdrie, is facing multiple charges including mischief, theft, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and causing a disturbance.
He has been remanded into custody and will appear in court in Airdrie via CCTV on Sept. 21.
