Charges have been laid against a Tofield farmer’s wife and sons after the 49-year-old man went missing six years ago.
Miles Naslund was reported as missing on Sept. 6, 2011 after he didn’t come home from work.
The missing persons case turned into a homicide investigation involving the Tofield and Camrose RCMP detachments, the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit and its Forensic Identification Section.
During the investigation, RCMP received information that “evidence of the homicide” may be found on Naslund’s property.
On Sept. 1, RCMP executed a search warrant on the farm along with the RCMP “E” Division Underwater Recovery Team from British Columbia. Human remains were found during the search that were later to be confirmed to be Naslund.
Helen Naslund, 52, and Neil Naslund, 25, have each been charged with first-degree murder and indignity to human remains. Both remain in custody and are scheduled to be back in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on Oct. 26.
Wes Naslund, 32, has been charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder and is set to appear in Court of Queen’s Bench in Edmonton.
