Lincoln Saltdogs blow out Winnipeg Goldeyes to even series

It went downhill fast for the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Thursday.

After winning their playoff opener the Goldeyes were hammered by the Lincoln Saltdogs 13-0 in game two at Haymarket Park in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Saltdogs chased Goldeyes starting pitcher Mikey O’Brien from the game after the very first inning. Lincoln scored five runs in the first inning and added five more in the second off Goldeyes pitcher Zack Dodson.

Brandon Jacobs drove in a total of seven runs for the Saltdogs as they battered Goldeyes’ pitchers for 17 hits.

The Goldeyes could only muster four hits as Saltdogs starter Derek Gordon recorded eight strikeouts in picking up the victory.

The best-of-5 series is now tied at one game apiece. Friday is a travel day with game three scheduled for Saturday at Shaw Park.

In the other division series the Wichita Wingnuts defeated the Gary SouthShore Railcats 5-2 for a two games to none lead.
