The B.C Wildfire Service is confirming that some structures have been lost due to the Finlay Creek fire burning between Peachland and Summerland.
Fire Information Officer Heather Rice told Global Okanagan News she doesn’t know at this point if the burned structures are homes or outbuildings.
No word on where exactly the structures are located.
The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen said it had no information on the losses at this time.
The Regional District of Central Okanagan said it is their understanding that a structure was “impacted” near the beginning of the fire but they haven’t been able to confirm that with crews on the ground.
The fire broke out Saturday and is 1,000 hectares.
Fifty-five properties are on evacuation order, more than 400 in Peachland and Summerland on alert.
