Accidents on major commuter routes for first day back to school

It was expected to be busier on the first full day of school this September but a number of accidents on major commuter routes is slowing things down even more.

Highway 1 westbound is lined up past 160th Street due to a collision just before the Port Mann Bridge.

The six-vehicle collision has blocked two lanes of traffic, although two are now getting through.

Traffic is very heavy across the bridge however, out of Surrey.

It is not affecting traffic heading into Coquitlam as those lanes are separated.

Westbound traffic is also blocked on Highway 17 from Highway 99 to Deltaport Way due to a serious collision involving a motorcycle.

Highway 17 is closed westbound and traffic is being diverted on to Highway 99 and Highway 17A.
