Lake levels could be on the rise after the Province of Manitoba issued high wind warnings for parts of the province on Monday and Tuesday.
A release sent out by Manitoba Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecasting Centre reports that winds in the forecast could mean trouble for the South Basin of Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg.

Over the next 48 hours, the province says strong northwest winds could mean wave action will raise levels by five feet or more. Lake Manitoba is currently at 812.8 feet.
Environment Canada reported winds as strong as 70 km/h around the north basin of Lake Winnipeg on Monday.
In the city, winds reached as high as 54 km/h.
The province reminded property owners on Sunday to take precautions because of the high wind speed.
