Montreal police shoot suspect in armed robbery, BEI investigates

A 26-year-old man has been shot by police after a suspected armed robbery in Montreal North.

The suspect allegedly approached a taxi driver, pointing a gun at him on the corner of Pie-IX Boulevard and de Charleroi Street.

It happened around 9:15 a.m.

The driver was able to contact police.

According to police, the man resisted arrest and turned his gun on officers, who opened fire.

The condition of the suspect is unknown at this time.

Quebec’s Bureau of independent investigations (BEI) is looking into the incident with assistance from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
