COMMENTARY: Trump-Bannon divorce could get ugly

Former Breitbart News head honcho Steve Bannon is no longer part of Donald Trump‘s inner circle at the White House.

Bannon has been the extreme right wing voice in Trump’s ear for the past year, but rumours have been rampant that Bannon was on the way out, especially since Trump’s new chief of staff, John Kelly and, maybe more importantly, Trump’s family didn’t like Bannon.

In the past five weeks, Trump has fired  more staff than he probably did in five seasons on The Apprentice, but canning Bannon could have serious ramifications.

Bannon and ultra conservatives backed Trump because they thought that he was the best bet to carry out their right wing agenda.

But many Breitbart News supporters feel that Trump is abandoning the alt-right agenda, if he ever really embraced it at all.

They feel that Trump only latched onto Bannon to curry favour with the extreme right wingers and now they feel used and abused.

Fact is, Trump doesn’t really care about Republicans or right wingers, he will say and do whatever it takes to promote Donald Trump.

Conservative pundits and politicians continue to distance themselves from Trump, and now, by dumping Bannon, he invites the scorn of Breitbart News and the alt-right supporters, and that’s a move he may soon regret.
