Weiss had just been released from prison when he was arrested last Wednesday. (The 38-year-old actor was arrested in early July for stealing $151 worth of electronics, and was sentenced to 150 days in L.A. County Jail. He was released early due to overcrowding.)

On the afternoon of Aug. 2, a neighbourhood resident called the police to report a man stumbling around a property near the Warner Bros. studio lot. According to the Burbank Police Department, responding officers then arrested Weiss for possession of a controlled substance.

Police also found a credit card belonging to one of Weiss’ friends in his possession, but the card owner is not pressing charges.

His bail was lowered from US$20,000 to $10,000, and as of this writing, it is unclear if he has entered a plea to the charge.

His manager hasn’t replied to any requests for comment, and his legal counsel (if any) hasn’t been identified. Weiss remains in police custody.

“Hopefully, when he gets out, he will go to rehab so he can stay sober,” said a spokesperson for his management company, Don Gibble & Associates, at the time of his first arrest.

Weiss’ first and most popular movie role was as the talkative Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks, which also starred a young Joshua Jackson. The movie tells the story of a ragtag group of misfit kids coming together to win a hockey tournament, and the film birthed the real-life NHL team in Anaheim (though the “Mighty” was eventually dropped from the official name). They’re now known as the Anaheim Ducks.
