UPDATE: Police say pedestrian hit by semi on Highway 2 was involved in earlier domestic assault

Calgary police are investigating a violent assault in the community of Dalhousie on Thursday that left one woman badly injured.

Police were called to the 4700 block of Dalton Drive N.W. at around 9 a.m.

EMS said the victim, a 37-year-old woman, was found suffering from significant traumatic injuries.

She was rushed to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault.
