RCMP say there was thick fog at the time of a three-vehicle crash near Drumheller, Alta., on Wednesday that injured two people.
It happened on Highway 9 about one kilometre east of the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 56, just after 7 a.m.
Police said a westbound pickup truck was attempting to pass a westbound SUV when it side-swiped an eastbound semi-trailer.
The pickup rolled before coming to rest in a ditch and the semi-trailer was badly damaged. The SUV received only minor damage.
The driver of the semi-trailer suffered minor, soft-tissue injuries, while the driver of the pickup truck suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV wasn’t injured.
According to a Wednesday news release from Drumheller RCMP, fog had resulted in “extremely poor visibility” at the time of the collision. They say charges are being considered against the driver of the pickup truck.
The town of Drumheller is located about 115 kilometres northeast of Calgary.
