Police investigating shots fired in South Surrey

Surrey RCMP is investigating what it believes to be a targeted shooting in front of a South Surrey business.

Shots rang out Thursday afternoon outside a wellness centre, the Drip Lounge near 32 Avenue and 152 Street, around 3:30 p.m.

Police say a number suspects opened fire, hitting their target in the foot. Stray bullets also hit a nearby building and a parked vehicle.

The victim is known to police and now RCMP are trying to find the culprits. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is still in its early stages and officers are continuing to collect evidence and conduct neighbourhood canvassing to obtain further information.

“Police are actively seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed this incident and have not yet spoken to police. Their information may be the one piece that completes the puzzle,” said S/Sgt Dale CARR of the Surrey RCMP .

“This incident once again demonstrates the lack of respect and concern that people engaged in this behaviour have for the community.”
