The Facebook post stated that the newly designed vehicles will roll out over the next three years.

The organization said it plans to have one new cruiser per SQ station throughout the province, swapping out the old white-modeled cars once they reach their life-span threshold.

“We will be removing the old vehicles from the road once they hit 200,000 km [on the odometer],” said SQ spokesperson Guy Lapointe.

“The cruisers are on the road 24/7, so they hit 200,000 km fairly quick.”

The SQ stated that the facelift will improve security, visibility and will modernize the vehicle’s aesthetic.

The post also mentions that the new design will help maximize the identity of the SQ through the contrasting black and white along with reflective identification bands on the car’s body.

“The cars were changed from olive green to white in the late 80’s,” added Lapointe about the new dynamic colour scheme.

“We wanted to keep a part of our history intact by using the same olive green colour on the door panels.”

The SQ opted for this new design to ensure maximized consistent visibility through province’s bright sunny days, snowy winter nights and through foggy periods.
