Calgary police say they have evidence to suggest a body found north of the traffic circle on Highway 22 Wednesday morning is connected to the deaths of three people found in a burned out car Monday morning.
“Investigators were notified of the recovery of a body this morning, early this morning. We sent investigators out to the scene,” said CPS major crimes unit Acting Insp. Paul Wozney on Wednesday.
“Evidence and information that was garnered at the scene leads us to believe that the recovery of this body is likely related to the investigation into the triple murder on Monday.”

Wozney also confirmed investigators are no longer searching for 26-year-old Hanock Afowerk, the registered owner of the burnt car.
“We’re not looking for him any longer,” he said.
Wozney wouldn’t speak to the condition of the body found on Highway 22, or whether that person was killed and moved to that scene or if they were killed at that scene, adding that police were investigating the death as suspicious.
Cochrane RCMP said the body was found Wednesday morning in a ditch off Highway 22, north of the Highway 8 traffic circle.
The major crimes unit and forensic investigators were on scene as of 8:30 a.m.
Traffic on Highway 22 was being re-routed between Highway 1 and Highway 8. However as of about 3 p.m. Wednesday, police confirmed the body had been removed and the scene taken down.
Wozney said investigators have received numerous calls and tips from the public, and said that family and friends of the victims are cooperating with the investigation.
Police identified two of the Monday homicide victims as 36-year-old Glynnis Fox and 25-year-old Cody Pfeiffer. Family members say the third victim was Fox’s sister, Tiffany Ear.
Police are still asking the public for information as they try to piece together a timeline beginning Sunday afternoon to when the burning car was found.
“We want to piece together the timeline from Sunday until Monday morning,” he said.
“So places of business — if somebody spoke to any one of the victims that’s been identified, if anyone saw them, if anyone had a beer with them, if anyone had a coffee with them, if anyone had a meal with them.”
