Montreal police are searching for a 20-year-old man who fell into the Rivière des Prairies around 6 p.m. Sunday.
The man’s family told Global News he is a student at Vanier College.
They added that he fell into the water while on a date.

The family is considering renting a boat to go into the river to search for him.
A family friend told Global News his parents had bought him a car and were keeping it as a surprise for his upcoming 21st birthday.
According to Montreal police spokesperson Raphaël Bergeron, witnesses say the current took the man east.

The search was suspended because of darkness, but resumed on Monday.
The incident happened near Riviera Street in Pierrefonds-Roxboro.
