Edmonton Oilers to host Calgary Flames in 2017-18 season opener

The Edmonton Oilers announced on Wednesday that they will kick off their 2017-18 season on home ice against the Calgary Flames.

The game will be played at Rogers Place on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

It’s the second straight year that the Oilers will begin their season by hosting the Flames in the Battle of Alberta.

The Oilers also visit Vancouver for the Canucks’ home opener on Saturday, Oct. 7.

The full schedule for the Oilers and the rest of the NHL will be released on Thursday.
