A two-vehicle collision between a pickup truck and a utility service truck closed a portion of Highway 3 from Brunkild to Sperling, Manitoba Tuesday.
Police responded to the scene at 2:50 p.m.. RCMP said the trucks may have clipped each other before hitting the ditch.
One driver, a 68-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. He has since been upgraded to stable condition, with serious injuries.
The other driver, a 49-year-old man, received minor injuries.
A detour was in effect rerouting vehicles throughout the afternoon. The road has since reopened to traffic.
One of the vehicles involved was a Bell MTS service truck.
The company issued a statement after the collision, and said the driver was in the area for work.
“Late yesterday afternoon we were informed that a Bell MTS service truck was involved in a collision southwest of Winnipeg. Our thoughts are with all those involved. We are supporting the RCMP as it completes its investigation,” Jeremy Swatzky with Bell MTS said.
Carman RCMP officers continue to investigate.
