A viral video of a woman demanding to see a “white doctor” at a walk-in clinic west of Toronto who “doesn’t have brown teeth and speaks English” has sparked outrage across the country.
The incident, which took place on June 18 around 12:30 p.m. at the Rapid Access to Medical Specialists clinic in Mississauga, Ont., appears to show a mother seeking assistance for her child.
“You’re saying the whole entire building there isn’t one white doctor?” the woman tells an employee at the start of the video, which runs just over four minutes in length.
“What you’re telling me that my kid has chest pains, he’s going to have to sit here until 4 p.m. Can I see a doctor please that is white? That doesn’t have brown teeth and speaks English.”

The woman then proceeds to walk into the registration office where she repeats her demand for a “white doctor.”
“There was a doctor that was not white, that did not help my kid. I would like to see a white doctor. You’re telling me there’s not one white doctor in this whole entire building?,” she said.
“Oh my God. What type of horrible country do I live in?” the woman continues. “There’s nobody that’s Canadian? Nobody that was born here?”

Shocked patients sitting in the waiting room also chimed in on the woman’s remarks.
“This is racism,” one person said.
“How are you communicating to everyone, if everyone is incapable of speaking English,” another witness is heard saying in the video.
The mother is later confronted near the end of the video by another person who appears to call her out for her behaviour.

“Your child clearly has more issues with you being his mother than him needing to see a doctor. You are extremely rude and racist,” she said.
“Want to talk about ‘Paki’ people being at a hospital. Maybe you should check yourself in.”
The clinic declined to comment on the incident when contacted by Global News.
Peel Regional Police say they were called to a clinic in Mississauga, Ont., shortly after 12:30 p.m. Sunday on reports of a disturbance.
Spokesman Const. Mark Fischer says a woman was being verbally aggressive in requesting that a white doctor attend to her son.
He says the woman’s son eventually received treatment, and the case was closed with no charges laid since no one was hurt and no threats were made.
