A man is dead and an officer was hospitalized after a stolen vehicle attempted to evade Saskatoon police on Monday.
Just before 9 p.m. CT on Monday, officers observed the stolen vehicle in the area of Avenue D North and 33rd Street West. The Air Support Unit (ASU) tracked it to Clearwater Place.

ASU members witnessed two men and a woman exit the vehicle. Officers then attempted a high-risk traffic stop, but the two men saw police and immediately got back into the truck.
In an attempt to flee the area, the driver of the truck rammed a patrol cruiser. A member of Saskatoon police discharged their firearm at the truck during this event.
ASU continued to track the truck and investigation shows that the suspect vehicle reached speeds of around 150 kilometres per hour before it struck a civilian vehicle turning left onto Airport Drive from Circle Drive.
The driver of the stolen vehicle, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the crash scene. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday.

A 33-year-old passenger from the truck was taken to hospital as a precaution. He has been arrested on outstanding warrants for offences that include possession of proceeds of crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, theft, obstruction of a police officer, aggravated assault and unlawful confinement.

The constable, who was in the police cruiser that was struck on Clearwater Place, was taken to hospital. She was released with non-life threatening injuries.
The civilian from the collision at Airport Drive and Circle Drive has also been released from hospital.
Police said the truck was reported stolen at around 3:45 a.m. on Monday. Investigators determined it had a key inside when it was taken.
Prior to the collisions, the vehicle was involved in another incident where its driver evaded police. It was also the subject of a report of suspicious activity in north Saskatoon.
A firearm and ammunition were found inside the truck.
