Video of the incident appears to show the British Spitfire’s right wheel catch on the airfield’s turf, causing the aircraft’s nose to pitch forward and the plane to flip.

Seconds later officials and bystanders can be seen running to help the pilot trapped inside the plane.

The rescuers were able to prop up the plane just enough to allow the pilot to escape the wreck with minor injuries.
