Woman wanted on Canada-wide warrant for 1st-degree murder surrenders to police

A 22-year-old woman wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection to the shooting death of a 27-year-old Markham, Ont., man has surrendered to police.

York Regional Police were called to the Hillwood Street and Brookhaven Crescent area west of McCowan Road just after 1 a.m. on Feb. 10 and located a male with gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as Noel Williams, was rushed to a trauma centre where he later succumbed to his injuries.

On April 19, police said they arrested and charged Jasper Atienza, 28, of Richmond Hill with first-degree murder.

An arrest warrant was issued for a second suspect, identified as Laurie Phan, on Monday.

Police said she turned herself in to police in Richmond Hill, Ont., at 5 p.m.
