U.S. President Donald Trump announced he will withdraw the United States from the Paris climate accord, an agreement signed in 2015 by nearly 200 countries, including Canada, to fight global warming.
World leaders condemned Trump after the president said “we’re getting out” of the accord that takes aim at climate change by setting voluntary goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions globally.
Trump cited several reasons for the U.S. bailing on the international effort, saying America’s withdrawal “represents a re-assertion of American sovereignty.”
