Fatal motorcycle crash closes southbound lanes of Winnipeg’s Perimeter Highway

A 54-year-old Winnipeg woman died after losing control of her motorcycle and getting struck by a gravel truck Friday afternoon, RCMP said in a news release.

Emergency crews responded to the Perimeter Highway between Portage Avenue and Roblin Boulevard at approximately 5:20 p.m.

RCMP said their early investigation showed that the 54-year-old woman was merging southbound on to the Perimeter Highway from Portage Avenue when she lost control of her motorcycle. She was then struck by a gravel truck.

She was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the gravel truck was no injured. Alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the crash.

Both southbound lanes of Perimeter Highway remained closed between Roblin Boulevard and Portage Avenue at 9 p.m.
