London Police have released the identities of the victim and suspect in Thursday’s early morning fatal crash.
It was around 3 a.m. when officers and other emergency personnel responded to Richmond St. and Sunningdale Rd. to reports of a collision between a car and a SUV.
When they arrived at the scene, investigators say the woman driving the car was pronounced dead and the man driving the SUV was transported to hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries and released shortly after at which time he was taken into custody.
Officers have since identified the woman killed in the collision as 60-year-old Gloria Chivers of Thorndale.
As a result of the investigation into the case, London Police say they’ve charged 23-year-old Jinghao Zhou of London with one count each of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in blood causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
Zhou is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, November 25th.
London Police say their investigation into the crash is ongoing and anyone with information about the case is asked to contact officers at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
