Toronto police have located a woman who was struck by a vehicle in Scarborough overnight and confirmed it is not being investigated as an abduction, in contrast to what was earlier suspected.
Police said a man and a woman were seen arguing in a white SUV around 2:20 a.m. in the area of McCowan Road and Eglinton Avenue East.
The woman then got out of the vehicle and was struck by a dark-coloured sedan.
Police said the woman was picked up by three men, brought into a silver sedan and drove away.
The vehicle was last seen going south on McCowan Road.
Police told Global News they had located and spoken to the woman Friday afternoon at an undisclosed location and the investigation is ongoing.
“What we’ve since learned is that it’s not in fact an abduction. What we can say is that there was a woman involved and the detectives were able to locate her,” Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook told Global News.
“She’s being assessed right now in terms of possible injuries but in terms of exactly the circumstances surrounding exactly what happened, we’re investigating to get more details.”
