“Initially STARS had been placed on standby for reports of more than one patient but they were stood down when it was determined no patients would be transported from the scene,” EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux said.

Investigators are speaking with witnesses and drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.

“It was a relatively high mechanism collision involving a lot of damage to both vehicles,” Brideaux said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
