RCMP are investigating a motorcycle crash north of Summerland that critically injured one person.
The crash happened on Sunday around 3:30 on Highway 97 near Bentley Road.
A 47-year-old Summerland man was southbound on a black 2015 Harley Davidson when the crash happened.
The motorcyclist was transported to Kelowna General Hospital where he remains in a medically induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit, according to Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.
RCMP had sent out a release Tuesday announcing the man’s death, but retracted the information after checking a second time with the hospital.
Friends and family also called media and RCMP to correct the announcement.
Cpl. Moskaluk said the hospital initially provided incorrect information about the injured man’s condition.
Family of the injured man told Global News he had heard two officers were coming to KGH to apologize for their mistake.
Police are not releasing any details surrounding the accident other than to say speed appears to be a contributing factor.
