UPDATE: Driver sentenced in deadly Saskatchewan bike collision

A Muskoday First Nation man pleaded guilty to impaired driving charges related to the death of an 11-year-old boy, according to court officials.

Gordon Morris Crain, 53, entered the plea Monday morning in Prince Albert, Sask., on what was expected to be the first day of his trial.

In July 2014, Jared Bear was riding his bike with friends along Highway 3 on Muskoday First Nation when Crain struck him with his vehicle.

Bear later died in hospital.

The sentencing portion of Crain’s case will begin in mid-June.

Muskoday First Nation is approximately 150 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
