Homicide detectives are investigating after a 24-year-old man was found dead in a Scarborough parking lot.
Det. Jason Shankaran told reporters that officers received multiple calls around 1:15 a.m. about shots fired on Chester Le Boulevard Saturday.
Officers responded to the scene at 1:30 a.m. and canvassed the area but nothing was found.
Samatar Farah was found at 8 a.m. by someone who lives in the neighbourhood, who then called 911. Shankaran said the victim met with two suspects, shots were fired and the suspects fled on foot.
According to police, Farah had no vital signs and was pronounced dead on scene due to gunshot wounds.
“Ambulance had arrived on scene and they requested the assistance of police. We all arrived to find a man who was suffering from apparent injuries, who was then pronounced at the scene,” Const. Victor Kwong later told AM640.
Friends of the victim have been left in shock at the loss of the man they describe as “the nicest kid.”
“He was a very good kid, very innocent,” said Gure Omar, a staff member at the centre where the victim would play basketball every Saturday. “All I can say are good things about him.
“He was a pure, good person and loving. Every time you would see him, he would hug you. He didn’t deserve this.”
Family friend Omar Abdillahi told reporters the victim was a “good guy” who worked hard and volunteered in the community.
Shankaran said Farah was not known to police but they believe he was targeted.
Detectives are urging anyone with information or anyone who may have known the victim to contact them.

This is the second shooting in the area this week after two men were sent to hospital Thursday with gunshot wounds. Police could not confirm whether the two incidents are connected.
