Stolen vehicle evading Prince Albert, Sask. police recovered

Police apprehended a 31-year-old woman following the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Prince Albert, Sask., on Monday.

At around 9:40 p.m. CT, officers spotted the vehicle being driven in the area of 5th Street East and 5th Avenue.

The driver sped away at high speeds when police activated their lights and sirens. Due to concerns for public safety, the chase was called off.

The stolen vehicle was later found parked in the north alley of the 1400-block of 1st Street East.

A woman, believed to be involved, was seen in the area and arrested. A police dog was used to perform a track that led from the vehicle to where the woman was found, according to police officials.

She is facing charges that include possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000, operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by a peace officer and attempting to evade a peace officer.

The Prince Albert woman is expected to appear in provincial court on Tuesday.
