Man facing charges of domestic assault, uttering threats: Saskatoon police

The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) have a 29-year-old man in custody after an alleged disturbance at a house in the Parkridge neighbourhood.

Just after 5:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, police received a 911 call from someone at a home in the 700-block of McCormack Road. The 911 operator heard what sounded like a fight, but was unable to get anyone to talk.

Officers responding to the call said they were met by a man who was behaving erratically and made verbal threats towards them.

Police removed a 27-year-old woman and four children from the house. The woman was taken to hospital by paramedics with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said the man made more threats, alluding to the use of a firearm, and refused to come out of the house.

SPS crisis negotiators, along with members of the tactical support unit, were called in to help with the situation.

Officers eventually entered the home and arrested the man just after 12:45 p.m. He was taken to hospital for examination.

He is facing charges of domestic assault, uttering threats and breaching a conditional sentencing order. He is expected to be seen by a justice of the peace on Saturday.

SPS officials said no firearms were found in the home.
