A 39-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm in connection to a fatal Vernon crash was sentenced on Monday afternoon.
Lori Victoria Vance was charged following the crash on Oct. 23, 2014.
She was sentenced to three years in prison for the impaired driving causing death charge and one year for the impaired driving causing bodily harm charge, but the sentences are to be served concurrently.
Vance also faces a six year driving prohibition and a $400 victim surcharge.
Addressing the court on Monday, Vance offered an apology.
“There is no way to express how very sorry I am that every person affected by this accident has suffered,” Vance said. “The fact that there are parents out there who will never hold their child or hear her laugh will haunt me for the rest of my life.”

Police say it was 1:15 a.m. when two nurses working at Vernon Jubilee Hospital were going to pick up coffee.
A van ran a red light and T-boned their car at the 32nd Street intersection in downtown Vernon.
The crash killed 33-year-old Erin Rae Smith of Kelowna and seriously injured 31-year-old Lindsay Hauck of Vernon.
The crown asked for a sentence in the upper range of two to four years.
The defense wanted two years less a day, plus probation.
