Five people are injured, including one man in serious condition, after two pickup trucks collided in Whitby early Saturday.
Durham Regional Police said officers responded to a call at 2 a.m., about a crash on Dundas Street East at Thickson Road.
Police said a white Dodge Ram pickup truck travelling eastbound was stopped at a red light when a black Dodge Ram pickup travelling in the same direction rear-ended the white Dodge.
The driver, 39, of the black Dodge suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital in Oshawa before being transferred to St. Michael’s trauma centre in Toronto. His passenger, also 39, suffered minor injuries, police said.
The driver of the white Dodge, 29, and his two male passengers, 31 and 29, all suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
The intersection was closed until shortly after 9 a.m.

Durham Regional Police Traffic Services is investigating. No information has been released as to the cause of the accident.
