2012 was a record year for building permits in Regina.
Last year was the biggest year for building permit values in Regina’s history, smashing the record set in 2011 by over $200 million.
In 2012, building permits totaled $773,000,000.
Residential construction led the way and single detached homes still dominate the construction market, but multiple unit buildings also increased substantially in 2012.
“We had a lot of major projects happening downtown, we have new growth – especially in housing – we have lots of people moving to our province which is really important, and it shows economic growth as well,” said Mayor Michael Fougere.
Fougere added he hopes Regina has the same kind of development in 2013.
