TORONTO – Toronto’s reputation is getting a boost with an international travel magazine ranking the city as one of the best places in the world to visit.
The Conde Nast Traveler placed Toronto among the best places to go in 2013, alongside Amsterdam, Seoul, Nashville and New Orleans. For those holding regional grudges, no other Canadian city made the list.

In its New Years Day publication, Conde Nast Traveler pointed to Toronto’s “stunning architecture,” restaurants, an “energetic arts and cultural scene” and “hot new hotels” as the city’s main attractions.
Canada as a whole is also getting international recognition – The Economist has ranked the country among the best places to be born in 2013.
In the follow up to a 1988 study “The World in 1988,” The Economist ranked countries using wealth and life-satisfaction surveys. Canada is ranked ninth in the magazine’s list of top 80 countries to be born.
While the original 1988 study ranked Canada fifth, Canada still ranks above Hong Kong, Finland, Ireland, Germany and the United States.
