Montreal’s substantial tax increase is reasonable

Many people living in the city of Montreal are upset about
the average 5.3-per-cent hike in residential properties in the
Tremblay administration's 2010 budget. Residents of the island's
suburbs are finding the rise even harder to swallow: Heavy
agglomeration expenses mean their total tax bills will increase
substantially more than those of city residents.
