Though it’s still one month to go until winter, Londoners will be getting a dose of what the season has to offer Wednesday night, according to Environment Canada.
The national weather bureau issued an advisory of intermittent light freezing rain, as well as snow or a snow-rain mix moving into London Wednesday afternoon heading into the evening–also impacting Parkhill and eastern Middlesex County.
There are no official weather watches or warnings in effect but city crews are ready.

City of London Division Manager of Transportation Operations John Parsons told AM980 freezing rain poses a major challenge for road crews.
“When it comes down, it hits everything at the same time and coats it,” he said. “With 26 trucks and the number of kilometres of road we have, we have to drive around and try and treat all these roads. If it comes immediately as freezing rain, it does take us some time to get around and put the salt on it. I think that most drivers will recognize that and hopefully slow down and drive (for) the conditions.”
Later in the evening, the advisory noted that the system could move further east towards Kitchener, Cambridge and Guelph.
“It is possible that some locales could experience several hours of freezing rain. However, temperatures are forecast to be just below the freezing mark, so treated surfaces should remain ice free,” the statement said.
By Thursday morning, two to four centimeters of snow are predicted to accumulate.
