CALGARY – Police are hoping the public can help them identify three people who were in the Shamrock Hotel prior to a massive fire this summer.
The blaze on August 28th broke out just after 6:30 a.m. in a rear room on the main floor and left several of the hotel’s eleven residents trapped inside.
Two people were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and several others were treated at the scene.
Arson Investigators have reviewed hours of related video in an effort to identify anyone with information in connection to the fire.
They have identified three individuals (pictured below) as being inside the hotel prior to the fire, and police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating them.After the fire was extinguished, the Calgary Fire Department said they were investigating claims a fire escape was chained and padlocked when the blaze broke out.
The owner of the Shamrock Hotel, Louisa K. Ho, was charged with six violations of the Alberta Fire Code, including ‘failing to ensure the means of egress, including the fire escape, is maintained in good repair and free of obstructions’.
The Shamrock hotel is a live music venue located in the 2100 block of 11th Street southeast, and was built in the early 1900s.
