A 16-year-old girl is dead after a three-vehicle collision outside of Prince Albert, Sask.
At 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Parkland Ambulance said paramedics were called to a crash on Highway 3 near Whitfield Road, approximately five kilometres west of the city.
The 16-year-old, who was from Prince Albert, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been notified and her name has not been released.
RCMP said Thursday that the collision occurred when a SUV heading west and an SUV heading east collided head-on. Afterward, a third truck going east ended up colliding with the SUVs.
Police said the teeen was travelling in the westbound SUV.
A 24-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman who were in the eastbound SUV were sent to hospital and are in stable condition.
The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old man, was not injured.
RCMP and the Office of the Chief Coroner are investigating the crash. Police said alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
