Woman rushed to hospital after getting hit by vehicle in northwest Calgary

A woman in her mid to late 40s was rushed to hospital Tuesday morning after she was struck by a vehicle in the northwest Calgary community of Hawkwood.

Investigators said the woman was walking her dog in a crosswalk on Hawkstone Drive when she was hit by a vehicle driving south on Hawkstone Gate N.W.

Police said the woman was thrown into the middle of the intersection. Her dog was also seriously injured.

Though the woman was initially in life-threatening condition, suffering from serious head injuries, officers had updated her condition to non life-threatening as of 10:30 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision, along with others in the area, stopped to help the victim.
