Hundreds of people braved the chilly morning temperature for a great cause.
The annual Santa Shuffle Fun Run and Elf Walk was held in Hawrelak Park Saturday morning.
Dressed in their finest Christmas running gear, close to 500 participants shuffled around the park to raise money for The Salvation Army.
“The funds that are raised through the Santa Shuffle are enabling The Salvation Army to operate our programs and services 365 days a year,” explained Leslie Stuart, National Santa Shuffle Race Director.
Stuart says there is an increased need around the holiday season, and all of the pledges from runners in the Santa Shuffle really help The Salvation Army provide services for less fortunate families.
“Particularly right now the programs this applies to would be the food hamper services, any community Christmas programs that are happening for families. It becomes very evident this time of year, those in need are definitely wanting to be included in all the Christmas festivities.”
Over 12,000 people take part in the Santa Shuffle in 39 communities across Canada every year.
