TORONTO – Police have charged three people in connection to a TTC theft investigation in which union reps allegedly helped an employee destroy evidence.
The charges stem from an internal TTC investigation where it is alleged a collector stole approximately $3,800 from his money float.
Police say the employee tampered with token rolls in an effort to cover the theft.

It is further alleged the employee sought help from union representatives who they then assisted the accused in destroying evidence in the investigation.
The three men charged surrendered to police on Tuesday, November 27.
Deodato Sousa, 54, of Toronto, has been charged with theft under $5,000.
John Wales, 63, of Toronto, has been charged with compounding an indictable offence, theft under $5,000, and breach of trust.
Clarke Smith, 53, of Toronto, has been charged with compounding an indictable offence and theft under $5,000.
All three are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, January 9, 2013.
