CALGARY- The province plans to investigate allegations that some patients in care homes for seniors and people with disabilities are restricted to just one bath every week.
Liberal MLA Kent Hehr first raised the issue after visiting the Fanning Care Centre in northeast Calgary.
On Wednesday, the minister for seniors said he wants answers, but also defended the quality of care being received by residents.
“I too care about the well-being, the care and the safety of our residents,” said George Vanderburg. “I have discussed this matter with the health minister and together we are going to have a look at this issue.”
Alberta Health Services, which operates the Fanning Centre through a sub-agency, denies there is a one-bath policy.
