John Goodman helps Alec Baldwin mock Donald Trump on SNL

What do you get the Russian president who has (almost) everything? According to Saturday Night Live, you get him Donald Trump as President-elect of the United States.

In the last episode of the year, Alec Baldwin reprised his Donald Trump character in the opening sketch – which came as a surprise too few since Baldwin tweeted out his costume earlier Saturday.

With references to “unpresidented” cabinet candidates and Trump’s recent feud with Vanity Fair, the sketch comedy show seems determined to touch on every move Trump makes.

In the opening sketch, his wife Melania, played by Cecily Strong, and his campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, played by Kate McKinnon, are celebrating the holidays when they heard a noise on the roof.

A shirtless Vladimir Putin, played by Beck Bennet, came down the chimney.

“You’re the best candidate, the smartest candidate, the Manchurian Candidate,” Putin tells Trump.

(The Manchurian Candidate is a movie and novel about a politician who was brainwashed and controlled by a foreign power.)

When it came time for gifts, Putin instructs them Trumps to keep their gift next to the internet router all year – before it starts emitting a high-pitched electronic sound.

Trump  then apologizes for not having a gift for the Russian president, but Putin brushed it off, saying: “You are the gift. “

Then came a surprise appearance as John Goodman walked in the door, playing Trump’s Secretary of State pick Rex Tillerson.

“Putie!” he as he and Putin did a complicated handshake. “I didn’t know you were going to be here.”

Tillerson, the CEO of ExxonMobil, has a close relationship with Russia and was given the country’s Order of Friendship award in 2013, one of the highest honours that Russia bestows on foreigners.

Tillerson and Putin confer as Trump hovers nearby, offering policy suggestions that are dismissed with a shrug, and a sarcastic “sure” from Tillerson.

It’s the first time Baldwin reprised the role since Trump called his imitation “mean-spirited” and “not very good.”

Trump, who’s been known to react to the SNL sketches about himself on Twitter, hasn’t responded to this episode as of the time this article was written.
