Toronto man, 52, faces charges after woman alleges Twitter harassment

TORONTO – A police investigation into some unwanted Twitter messages has led to charges against a 52-year-old Toronto man.

Police say a woman and a man met online through Twitter in April and soon began discussing graphic design for an upcoming community event.

It’s alleged that when the woman became concerned about the man’s online behaviour and told him she would go elsewhere for help, the man began harassing her through Twitter.

Police say the woman told the man in August to stop all communication with her but he continued to tweet and the woman began to fear for her safety.

Gregory Alan Elliott is charged with criminal harassment and breach of a peace bond.

Police say they believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone with further information to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.

Police say the accused has an active Twitter account using the name @greg_a_elliott.
