HALIFAX – The Nova Scotia government is spending $400,000 to help low-income seniors and families pay their home heating bills.
The Salvation Army’s Good Neighbour Energy Fund helps with all forms of home heating, although the majority of requests for assistance are for oil and electricity.

This is the sixth year for the program.
Last winter, more than 2,000 low-income Nova Scotians across the province received money from the fund.
Application forms will be available online in January.
Municipal Relations Minister John MacDonell says no family should have to make the choice between keeping the heat on or put food the table.
